LAHORE - Bishop of Lahore Rt Rev Dr Alexander John Malik has condemned the murder of Rashid Masih in Mian Channu and urged the prime minister, chief minister and chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of the incident to ensure that the culprits are given exemplary punishment. He was addressing a press conference here at the Press Club on Wednesday. Even after 22 days the four culprits Ghulam Rasool, Asif, Amjad and Kashif though in police custody have not been shown in legal documents as arrested. Reportedly there is political pressure to release Asif, Malik added. He said all the four were involved in the murder of Rashid. There was no religious reason behind his murder. Rather it was all due to business rivalry, Dr Malik said. He said the culprits should not be released and given exemplary punishment to ensure no such incidents take place in future.
