LAHORE The Lahore High Court Chief Justice has taken suo moto notice of suspending SHO Lower Mall Police Station and other police officials for stopping and checking the vehicle of MNA Malik Riaz. The CJ has directed the CCPO to appear before the court on April 01 to explain as to why he suspended the police officials for simply stopping and searching PML-N MNA from Lahore. The country was under the spate of terrorism and demanded security measures at every level irrespective of the status/position, the CJ observed, adding that according to the Constitution nobody was above the law and had to be dealt with accordingly without any discrimination on the basis of the status or the position he/she enjoyed. The CJ said, Such a matter cannot be taken lightly and this court being limb of the state has to ensure the rule of law. The CJ also directed the Advocate General Punjab to ensure compliance with the court orders and appear before the court to assist in the matter. According to the news, the SHO allegedly misbehaved the MNA and delayed him as well as his companions for 15 minutes when they did not allow police checking of arms lying in the vehicle.
