QUETTA - Consensus on renaming of NWFP as Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa has been welcomed in Balochistans provincial capital while Awani National Party (ANP) Baloc-histan chapter has announced holding Jashn-e-Pakhtoon-khwa in Quetta on April 3rd. As the news permeated dozens of people mostly hailing form ANP thronged to streets and gathered at Manan Chowk. They distributed sweets, resorted to aerial firing and presented a traditional dance on the beat of drums to celebrate the occasion. Addressing a press conference, Provincial Convener Arbab Abdul Zahir Kasi flanked by Aurangzaib Kasi and Dr Inyattullah, leaders of ANP welcomed the renaming of NWFP as Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. He termed it the result of long struggle of late Khan Bacha Khan. He said that Bacha Khan rendered numerous sacrifices for Pakhtoonkhwa and Pashtoons were now benefiting from fruits of his tireless struggle. He stressed that there should be re-demarcation of all provinces on linguistic basis and all nationalities living in the federation should be given their identity. Though some elements created hurdles but eventually we succeeded in renaming NWFP as Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, ANP Provincial Convener added. Arbab Abdul Zahir, however, said that Khyber had been forcibly incorporated with Pakhtoonkhwa but they accepted it. He announced that ANP would hold Jashn-e-Pashtoonkhwa in Quetta on April 3rd, to mark the inclusion of renaming of NWFP as Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa in recommendations of Parliamentary Committee for Constitutional Reforms.
