LAHORE - Terming the WikiLeaks revelations as a tactics by the United States to ensue a clash among the Muslim countries, former Army chief Aslam Beg Tuesday said the US wanted to divide Afghanistan into three units. In an exclusive conversation with Nawa-i-Waqt, Beg said the US was contemplating to ignite civil war in Afghanistan to further notorious agenda, adding that the Iranian leaderships responsible behaviour had foiled the US plans. Beg predicted that the US policy to divide and rule the Muslims had failed, as the formation of a bloc consisting of Islamic countries was underway. The Americans, instead to creating hurdles, should facilitate the process to become a reality, he added. He said the Army chief was not authorised to write letters directly to the US president, as it was a sole domain of the government. Beg also opined that the US did not need ground operations in Pakistan, as it was already killing the innocents through drone strikes, but Pakistan was unable to raise voice for stopping the airstrikes. Talking about the dual policy pursued by Washington, he said Washington was getting closer to New Delhi but was bullying Islamabad to submit to its terms and conditions.
