ISLAMABAD: Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui Allama Iqbal Open University awarded cash prizes to about fifty gardeners for winning top position in the recently held Autumn Flower show in the federal capital.

 “This is in recognition of their hard work and commitment to their job,” he said while addressing the prize-distribution ceremony on Wednesday.

The University’s gardeners had received a special trophy and shield from Islamabad Horticultural society. According to the University’s garden supervisor Abdul Sattar, the gardeners had displayed 900 different varieties of ‘Ghule-dawoodi’ at the three-day exhibition which attracted a large crowd.

 The ceremony was also addressed by President Employees Welfare Association Sajjad Janju who praised the Vc for taking personal interest in the well-being of the low-grade employees.

Earlier, Fozia Anjum, in charge of Horticulture Departments highlighted the achievements of the University in the horticulture sector during the last three years.
