SIALKOT-Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah stressed a need for promoting good working relationship between the bar and the bench for providing speedy and easy justice.

He stated this while addressing a meeting of the district judiciary held at Sialkot. The LHC chief justice revealed that both the judiciary and the lawyers’ community should play their pivotal role in ensuring smooth provision of justice and removing all the hurdles from the way.

He also stressed a need for making efforts to provide better working atmosphere to dispense speedy justice at the people’s doorsteps. He said that pleasant atmosphere was also vital to bring betterment in the mutual working between the bar and the bench.

Later, he visited “Yaadgar-e-Shuhada” at Sialkot District Jail and paid rich tributes to the judges who were martyred during an ambush with the prisoners on July 25, 2003. He also offered Fateha for the eternal peace of the departed souls. The CJ also stressed a need for early completion of the trial of Sialkot Jail tragedy case lying pending with Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The CJ also assured the local judiciary of playing his role in getting the slain judges declared as martyrs officially. The local judiciary and senior judges had demanded the official status of martyrs for the judges killed by the captors in Sialkot District Jail about fifteen years ago.

District and Sessions Judge (DSJ) Malik Zulqarnain, DSJ Narowal Muhammad Yousaf Aujla, ADSJs, civil judges and President of Sialkot District Bar Association (DBA) Khawaja Irfanul Haq were also present They also told the LHC chief justice that the trial of the case of Sialkot jail tragedy had been lying pending with Supreme Court of Pakistan for the last several years due to some unknown reasons. They also demanded early completion of the trial.
