NICVD’s 1st certification ceremony of Intervention Cardiology Fellowship Programme

KARACHI (PR): National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases organised its first certification ceremony of Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Programme in Karachi on Tuesday. A total of 13 fellows were awarded certificates for successfully completing post-fellowship training in the sub-specialty of interventional cardiology. Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Khan Durrani was the chief guest of the ceremony.

In his welcome address, Executive Director of NICVD, Professor Nadeem Qamar said, “It gives me great pleasure to welcome all participants to the first ceremony of Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Programme of NICVD. By the grace of Almighty Allah, we have achieved this milestone through the untiring efforts of our dedicated faculty members and trainees and we have gathered here to celebrate our collective achievement.”

He said that it is great pride and honour for NICVD to conduct its first certification ceremony of Interventional Cardiology fellowship Programme. This program focuses at producing skilled doctors, equipped with the highest standards of leadership and management skills as well as ethical practices so that they are able to function as competent and compassionate specialists.

He also added that for over half a century, the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases has tirelessly endeavored to excel in cardiovascular patient-care, training and research. “With more than 300 highly qualified surgeons, doctors and trainees, we have provided superior services to our patients requiring emergency care, admission and consultation.”

Agha Siraj Khan Durrani congratulated the fellows and their parents. The ceremony was attended by more than 500 health and non-clinical professionals from different institutions.

ITU inks agreement with Karandaaz

 

ISLAMABAD (PR): Information Technology University (ITU) of the Punjab and Karandaaz Pakistan have entered into an agreement to initiate three research projects through the Fintech Center established at ITU. The three specific academic researches undertaken by this FinTech Center will improve the existing knowledge on women’s use of digital financial services and the barriers they face. The research center will help to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges in financial inclusion and exploring the potential of data science and information communication technologies as a viable solution.

The signing ceremony, held here Wednesday, was also witnessed by a delegation of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), which provides funding support to Karandaaz to promote financial inclusion of individuals through digital technologies.

Women in Pakistan often face multiple barriers in availing formal financial services. Theses researches will help in understanding and proposing solutions to mitigate these barriers. The researches shall be conducted in Pakistan with technical collaboration between Digital Financial Services Research Group of the University of Washington, Seattle and ITU faculty. One of the researches will focus on viability of a mobile app to form a rotating savings and credit association of women that will help them save and borrow collectively. Another research will help in designing a digital financial system for business and personal use of micro entrepreneur women. The third research will focus on digital solutions to safeguard women against SMS frauds in Pakistan.

 

DHA conducts dengue eradication campaign

 

KARACHI (PR): DHA attaches highest priority to the healthcare and welfare of the community as its social corporate responsibility. DHA Medical Branch and DHA Services HAVE jointly launched a comprehensive preventive drive against the lethal epidemic threat of dengue.

An intensive fumigation campaign focusing on locations where larvae with tempehost was detected was launched by teams of DHA Services. Fumigation was carried out in nooks and corners of all DHA Phases and the adjoining areas.

DHA Medical Centre arranged public awareness programmes at DHA educational institutions, clubs and DHA Medical Centre. Preventive measures were also displayed on steamers and panaflex stand near walking tracks at Zamzama Park, Nisar Shaheed Park and DA College for Boys and Girls. DHA Services also displayed awareness messages on bill boards.
