SADIQABAD -  Two newly-wed lovebirds were thrashed by the girl’s family after leaving the court premises where they went to file an application seeking protection from their families here the other day.

Hasina Bibi, resident of Chak Nasirabad, was married off to Bashir Ahmed. Her husband divorced her upon which she married Zahur Ahmed on her own free will. The girl’s family threatened the couple with dire consequences and therefore, both went to a local court to seek protection from their families. After having their statements recorded, they left the court and countered the girl’s family who attacked the car the couple was riding and thrashed the couple. Zahur Ahmed fled from the scene in critical condition. The family members took the girl with them. City police reached the spot, impounded the vehicle and arrested several members of the girl’s family. The police also registered a case against them on the complaint of Zahur Ahmed.

‘Sharifs strengthen democracy’

A local PML-N MPA claimed during a media talk that Sharif brothers have an undeniable role in continual and strengthening of democratic system in the country.

He pointed out that the development projects completed during the four-and-half-a-year tenure of the PML-N rule stands testimony to the government’s vow to serve masses without political discrimination. He said that the PML-N adheres to the vision of Quaid-e-Azam. He claimed that his party would clinch 2018 general election. He said that millions of rupees have been spent for the provision of water, power, gas and the sewerage and roads’ construction. He said that the government is determined to improve life standards of the masses, adding that it would not left masses in the lurch.
