KARACHI - A minor girl was killed and her sister wounded after the suspected robbers opened indiscriminate fire over offering resistance on a robbing bid on Wednesday.

The incident took place in Korangi No 5 when at least two robbers were busy looting a passerby at a Khaddi Market in Korangi. Police officials said that the robbers opened indiscriminate fire after a citizen to whom they were looting cash and cell phone offered resistance, adding that the two school going sisters who were passing from there became victims of the incident.

The injured sisters were immediately taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical treatment where one six-year-old Noor Fatima succumbed to her injuries during treatment while her sister nine-year-old Sabiha remained admitted at hospital.

Police officials said that the victims were the residents of the same area. The suspects, however, managed to escape following an incident. The case has been registered while further investigation was underway.


Iqbal Market police claimed to have killed two bandits in an alleged encounter in Orangi Town locality. Police said that gunmen ridding on a motorbike snatched a mobile phone and other valuables from a woman when police on routine patrolling reached on the post and asked bandits to surrender. Bandits trying to flee while resorted indiscriminate firing, resultantly police retaliated and both the bandit sustained bullet wounds and died on the spot.

Police recovered weapons, motorbike and looted valuables from the possession of bandits.

The bodies of bandits were shifted to morgue for identification after autopsy at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
