MULTAN/KHANEWAL-The death toll in seasonal influenza attack in South Punjab has crossed the figure of 50 as two real brothers were killed by the killer virus here at Nishtar Hospital on Wednesday.

Both the deceased, Waseem and Mobeen, belonged to Khanewal while their third brother namely Muhammad Faheem has also been brought to Nishtar hospital in critical condition. Hospital sources disclosed that the suspected patients of seasonal influenza are continuously coming to the hospital and eight new patients had been admitted whose blood samples had been sent for examination. Meanwhile, the Commissioner Multan took notice of influenza attack and sent health department’s teams to the village of the affected family. The teams will investigate whether it was influenza outbreak or the deceased brothers contracted disease from somewhere else.

Meanwhile, the PTI workers staged a demonstration against Punjab Government for what they described as its failure in containing influenza outbreak. The demo was led by Hassan Khan Allezai and a large number of workers participated in it. Speaking on this occasion, the PTI leaders said that over 50 men, women and children had died in influenza outbreak but the Punjab Government did not take any serious step. They added that entire provincial government would have been running, if 50 people had died in Lahore.

They alleged that the Sharifs intentionally kept South Punjab backward and subjected this region to step motherly treatment.
