SOME 79% of parents are using their children as chauffeurs.

The figure, which turns the tables on the parent/child relationship, was revealed in a survey by Churchill Car Insurance.

However, it seems that parents are still paying for the trip, with each journey costing them an average of £11.16.

Topping the list of places to go are the shops, followed by friends or relatives’ houses, parties and restaurants.

The survey revealed that a total of 8% of parents get a lift at least once a month and 6% are ferried around by their children once a week. Around 2% are taken to work by a son or daughter every day. Also, 51% of parents are saving money by getting their children to drive them to their desired destinations. –MO
