KARACHI (PPI) – The Sindh High Court Chief Justice, Mushir Alam, on Monday said that judiciary will be powerful if legal fraternity and bar associations stand along it. He was addressing a legal certificate distribution ceremony at city court?s library. The chief justice lauded the way of transfer of the powers in bar associations by elections and said political parties also should adopt this practice. He held that judiciary has marked a new history on 3rd March 2007, adding that free judiciary was in the favor of the country and its people. He said that they tried a lot to make the process of selection of civil judges transparent during their exams, as judiciary needs bright and good faces.He said that according to Judicial Policy, lower judiciary was directed to dispose of all old pending cases by 31th December 2012, ?a remarkable progress has been made in this regard with cooperation of bar associations?, he added.Justice Maqbol Baqar said that movement for restoration of Judiciary in Pakistan was not only recognized in the country but also received international recognition. He held that lawyers’ unity was exemplary.He said that country was facing many challenges like terrorism, adding that poor and middle class people have pinned hopes on judiciary. Naeem Qureshi, president Karachi Bar Association and others also spoke.
