ISLAMABAD Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, briefed Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on the ongoing military operation against terrorists in parts of the country with special reference to Swat where terrorists were successfully flushed out by Armed Forces in support of local population. The Army Chief called on PM Gilani at PMs House on Monday afternoon and discussed with him the overall security situation, the budgetary requirements of Armed Forces in the upcoming budget and future plans to curb sporadic incidents of terrorism in the wake of recent terrorist attack in Lahore, sources aware of the deliberations of the meeting informed. Agencies add: Earlier, General Kayani along with General Officers from GHQ visited Air Headquarters to attend the analysis and discussion of joint exercise High Mark-2010 and Azm-e-Nau-III. On arrival, he was received by Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman. The session was also attended by Principal Staff Officers of PAF. Expressing deep satisfaction over the efficient and safe conduct of the biggest ever PAF-Pakistan Army joint exercise, General Kayani appreciated the vital role played by PAF in all facets of the exercise, and hoped to further enhance the spirit of jointness in future operations. In response, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman assured COAS of PAFs unflinching resolve to extend all-out support to Pakistan Army towards the achievement of common national objectives, including the ongoing anti-terrorist operations. According to sources, both the COAS and Air Chief again made it clear that no compromise will made on countrys defence, adding that the Pakistan Army stood like a rock and PAF left no stone unturned to ensure countrys defence.
