CHENGDU (China) (AFP) Japan booked their place at the 2011 Womens World Cup finals on Sunday by beating hosts China 2-0 to win the Asian Cup third-place play-off. A goal in each half sealed victory at the Chengdu Sports Centre, with Kozue Ando opening the scoring in the 18th minute before captain Homare Sawa made the win safe midway through the second half. It ensured Norio Sasakis side will play at the World Cup in Germany while China miss out for the first time since the tournaments inception in 1991. Defending Asian champions North Korea take on Australia in the final later Sunday. Both teams are already assured of playing at the World Cup.
