"I don't think that Australia got us out, we got ourselves out," Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam had to say about his team's performance after the third ODI. Pakistan crumbled from 95-0 to all out for 171 chasing Australia's 198-7, in the third one-dayer in Abu Dhabi, to give Australia a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Most batsmen fell to rash shots. This was indeed a disturbing sight for Pakistani fans as the team easily gave away the game when they had it covered well early on. Pakistan's lack of exposure to international cricket was evident in their performance. The players simply couldn't handle the pressure. Pakistan team has a golden opportunity to beat Australia in the series only if they apply themselves and handle the pressure well. The pitches are slow and low with only three half centuries being scored in the series thus far. Shahid Afridi has been a batsman who has delivered consistently enough with the bat. Other Pakistan batsmen need to support him with likes of Younis, Misbah and Malik all due for some big scores. Senior players need to take the challenge. Australians don't have a great bowling unit currently. Brett Lee has joined the squad but isn't expected to be in the eleven till the T20 game after the ODIs. Aussies are expected to bring in Doug Bollinger as part of their rotation policy of the fast bowlers. Pakistan should seriously consider bringing back Shoaib Akhtar in place of Yasir Arafat as Shoaib can add value to the team with his experience plus his 'X-Factor' can prove to be vital in this important game. Sohail Tanvir deserves another look in ahead of Rao Iftikhar. But it's the Pakistan batsmen who need to improve their game. No one in the series has given a noteworthy performance and this crucial game is the ideal time for them to do so. Much like the Pakistani batsmen the Aussie willow wielders have also found it hard to deliver on the slow, low and spinning tracks in the UAE. A win here for would seal the series for them. Pakistan needs to keep the series alive with a win today. They will have to improve their game by some notches and give a more determined and professional display.
