LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the procurement campaign will continue till the purchase of last grain of wheat from the farmers and he will not rest content until ensuring their rights. He said that anyone who will usurp the rights of the farmers will be his enemy and he himself held him accountable. He said that he has started process of surprise visits throughout the province for this purpose. Chief Minister issued orders for suspension of all staff including DFC due to poor arrangements and irregularities in provision of gunny bags at Procurement Centre, Chunian and called for a report from DCO within 12 hours after sealing the record of procurement centre. He gave away a certificate and cash of Rs 50,000 to Tehsildar for best arrangements of bardana and purchase of wheat at procurement centre at Akhtarabad, Okara and rupees ten thousand to Centre Incharge at Chak No.9-138-L of district Sahiwal. Chief Minister announced a grant of Rs:2.5 crore for under construction District Public School at Renala Khurd and directed to complete the construction work within three months. He was talking to farmers during surprise his visit to various wheat procurement centres in Kasur, Okara and Sahiwal districts on Thursday, says a hnadout. Shahbaz Sharif said that government will ensure due return to the farmers of their produce at all costs and no one will he allowed to usurp their rights. He said that the target of wheat has been increased to 60 lakh tons keeping in view the welfare of the farmers and the farmers need not worry as government will continue the procurement of wheat till the purchase of last grain of wheat from them even after May 31. He said that farmers have been allowed to bring their wheat in their own bardana due to irregularities in the distribution of bardana and its price is being paid to them on the spot. He said that stalls have also been established in various districts for provision of gunny bags and poly propylene bags for the convenience of farmers. FTc said that the trolleys loaded with wheat should be unloaded within five hours at all cost so that the farmers should not face difficulties of long waiting for getting return of their produce. He said that the unloading rate has been increased from Rs.3 to 5 per bag for this purpose. The Chief Minister said that he is visiting the province for ensuring the payment of wheat at Rs.950/maund to the farmers. He directed the DCO and DPO that the person to whom bardana has been distributed wrongly should be recovered from them within 48 hours and the wheat should be unloaded within five hours throughout the province. The Chief Minister immediately after his arrival at procurement center Chunian, district Kasur, inquired about the provision of bardana from the farmers. They informed the Chief Minister that the department did not provide them bardana upon which Chief Minister ordered suspension of all staff including DFC and called for a report from DCO Kasur within 12 hours sealing the record of the center. He also ordered immediate suspension of supervisory committee at the center. During his surprise visit to procurement center at Akhtar Ahad district Okara, Chief Minister asked from farmers about purchase of wheat. Farmers expressing satisfaction over arrangements of procurement said that bardana is being provided to them and they have no problem in selling their wheat upon which chief minister announced a commendatory certificate and cash prize of Rs.50,000 for tehsildar Rana Mumtaz. He also visited under-construction school at Renala Khurd and announced a grant of Rs.2.5 crore for its early completion. He also suspended incharge investigation of the police station Shagoor, Abdul Rasheed on the complaints of the people of the area. Later, the Chief Minister visited procurement center Harrappa district Sahiwal and inquired from the farmers about their problems. The farmers termed the arrangements at the center satisfactory. The Chief Minister visited procurement center at Chak-9- 13 8/L and gave away cash prize of Rs. 10 thousand to center incharge Zishan on his best performance. Chief Minister, taking strict notice of the complaint of abduction of two girls directed DPO Okara to arrest the culprits involved in this incident within 72 hours and submit a report to him.
