Islamabad - Balochistan Government has issued directives for the allotment of land in Sibi and Quetta for the establishment of Sibi University and Higher Education Commission (HEC) Regional Centre in Quetta respectively. The decision comes at the heels of a request from Chairman Higher Education Commission Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed for the required land as HEC has been instrumental in promoting higher education for the youth in less developed areas. In order to achieve this target, HEC has upgraded the existing higher education institutions in its first phase and also recommended the establishment of new institutions in various parts of the country on the basis of requirement. To this effect, a detailed feasibility study was carried out in 2007, to assess the potential of new universities and sub-campuses of existing universities in each district of Balochistan.

Turbat, Loralai and Sibi. Accordingly, the University of Turbat and University of Loralai has been established and are in development phase while University of Sibi has been proposed in the current year. Now that the land will be allotted, soon development work will be started.  Likewise the land for HEC Regional Center will also make possible construction work.
