LAHORE - A civil miscellaneous application has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking constitution of a larger bench to hear the petition seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan for speaking lie during a joint session of the parliament that they did not ask the army to play its role as facilitator in the present political situation.

Ghohar Nawaz Sindhu Advocate of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf filed the application. The petitioner-lawyer raised number of questions while putting different Articles in his applications including Article 62, 63, 227 and 248 of the Constitution. He pleaded the court to constitute a larger bench because of the sensitivity of the matter.

Sindhu had already filed a petition challenging the eligibility of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan for lying in the parliament that they did not ask the army to be arbitrator in the present political situation. However, he said, the ISPR exposed them by issuing a press release that the government asked them to play their role as facilitator.

He prayed the court to declare PM Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan as disqualified as they did not meet the criteria set by Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution.

NOTICE TO MNA: Justice Ayesha A Malik of the Lahore High Court issued fresh notices to election commission of Pakistan (ECP) and MNA Asfand Yar Bhandara until October 22, on a petition challenging his eligibility due to concealing facts from the election commission.

As the proceedings commenced, a law officer told the judge that neither the ECP nor the respondent MNA responded to the court’s previous notices.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Inqilab had filed the petition through A K Dogar and submitted that NAB references were pending against the MNA but he concealed the fact

while filing his nomination papers.

He said Asfandyar did not meet the criteria prescribed in the Constitution for a member of the parliament.

He pleaded the court to invoke provisions of Articles 62 & 63 of the Constitution and disqualify the respondent member national assembly. He prayed the court to declare him disqualified and restrain him from working in the public office.
