LAHORE - Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Amin Wains has warned that the miscreants involved in hooliganism and harassing innocent citizens would not be spared.

He said that the station house officers (SHOs) and Beat In-charges of the concerned police station would be held responsible if they failed to take stringent action against such elements in their respective areas.

The Lahore police chief stated this while addressing a joint meeting of SHOs and Beat In-charges of the Iqbal Town police division at Muslim Town Community Center. DIG Investigation Shahzad Sultan, DIG Operation Dr Haider Ashraf, SP Security Malik Liaqat, SP (Operations) and SP Investigation, and members of public safety committees were also present on this the occasion.

The CCPO said that stringent legal and departmental action would be taken against police officials patronizing criminal elements and harassing the citizens at police pickets or during patrolling.

He said that cooperation of citizens would be sought for the eradication of crime and maintenance of law and order in the city.

Besides activation of beat system, beat safety committees comprising notables of the area have been constituted for this purpose which will operate under police-public partnership.

Amin Wains said that soft policing was need of the hour and therefore, the policemen should be politely with the citizens not only at the police stations but also during patrolling and at the pickets.

He directed the SHOs and Beat In-charges to evolve a comprehensive system of patrolling and picketing for the eradication of crimes in their respective areas since protection of life and property of the citizens is their basic responsibility.

On this occasion, the CCPO also urged the members of the beat safety committees to play their conciliatory role for resolving the minor disputes among the local residents and help police eradicate crimes from the society.
