LAHORE - As if the damage caused to the PML-N by its unruly legislators was not enough, another party MPA from Lahore, Naveed Anjum, roughed up and abused a Lahore cantonment magistrate the other day, who refused to allow his workers to get sugar out of turn at a Ramazan Bazaar set up nearby Shalimar Gardens. It happened at a time when stories about PML-N legislators overstepping their authority are still doing the rounds. Special Magistrate, Amir Ahmad Khan, during his visit to Shalimar Town, had objected to issuance of chits by the said MPA for out of turn supply of sugar, which was contrary to the instructions of the Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Shahbaz Sahrif. On the intervention of the Magistrate, the PML-N legislator got infuriated and misbehaved with him, used abusive language besides threatening him of dire consequences. The incident was captured by cameraman of a private TV Channel and its footage is also available with its management. When contacted for his version, Naveed Anjum did not respond to repeated calls made by this scribe on his cell phone. An SMS sent to the said legislator in this regard also failed to evoke any response on his part. The incident has created unrest and resentment among the PCS and PMS Officers, who dont feel secure while performing their duties. The morale of the officers is touching its lowest ebb after this happening, said a PCS officer commenting on the incident. Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of PCS Officers Welfare Association was held on Monday to discuss the incident of maltreatment of Amir Ahmad Khan Special Magistrate by Naveed Anjum MPA Lahore. The association passed a resolution, condemning misbehaviour of the MPA, and termed it direct interference in official duties. It demanded of the authorities to take punitive action against the legislator while maintaining that such interference on the part of MPAs will adversely affect Punjab CMs plan to establish good governance. It would also discourage the officers devoting their days and nights for fulfilment of the ideals of the Chief Minister Punjab, the resolution further said.
