ISLAMABAD (APP) - Through the dedication and commitment of the BISP leadership and management it is evident that the government is faithful to fulfil the dream to do something for the poor and vulnerable. This was stated by the World Bank Country Director, Yusupha Crookes, who called on Chairperson Benazir Income Supports Programme (BISP) Farzana Raja here Monday. He termed the programme that stands out in the whole country and made great progress in such a short time. Crookes specially appreciated the in-house development of IT systems of BISP by hiring competent IT professionals. This software has been developed for ensuring financial reconciliation and grievance redressal case management. Farzana Raja said that for the first time in the history of Pakistan the benefits of a programme are reaching directly to the poor. She informed the World Bank head that very soon health and accident insurance for BISP beneficiaries will also be started initially as a pilot project in the districts where poverty scorecard survey has been recently completed. In order to ensure more efficient and transparent payment mechanism, Benazir Smart Card would be introduced very soon along with other technology based payment solutions, she added.
