LAHORE Dutch Ambassador in Pakistan Joost Reintyes called on Editor-in-Chief Nawa-i-Waqt Group at his office here Thursday, and exchanged views on wide-ranging issues, including Pakistans diplomatic relations with neighbouring countries, journalism and Dutch forces presence in Afghanistan. Deputy Managing Director Nawa-i-Waqt Group Rameeza Nizami and Honorary Consulate of Holland in Punjab Tariq Rehman were also present on the occasion. Joost Reintyes mentioned that the Dutch army was present in Pakistan, and would leave Afghanistan during the current year. The Dutch army is carrying out the task of maintaining peace, while it is participating in armys development project in Arzghan, and the resident of the province are thankful to the Dutch army men, he added. Joost Reintyes asked Majid Nizami about newspapers giving more space to 18th amendment than the visit of the Turkish president, while Nawaz Sharif had taken u-turn on Pakhtoonkhawa and the judges issue. While replying to this, Majid Nizami observed that Nawaz Sharif had surrendered, while the PML-Q, PML-F and Aftab Sherpao had rejected renaming NWFP as Pakhtoonkhawa. Earlier, Nawaz Sharif declined, but has endorsed it now, which is like 'he was against it yesterday, but has accepted it today. To this, the Dutch Ambassador opined that Nawaz Sharif was a flexible person. To another question about the visit of Turkish President and its purpose 'to act as a mediator between India and Pakistan and whether Pakistan and Turkey were quickly forging better relations, Majid Nizami said, I dont think that Abdullah Guls visit is aimed to act as mediator between India and Pakistan, rather it can have an objective of resolving conflicts between Nawaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari. Majid Nizami mentioned that Saudi Arabia could play positive role for bettering relations between two neighbouring countries. He told the visiting Ambassador about the history of the Nawa-i-Waqt, and its journey during the last seven decades. Rameeza Nizami, while talking about the Waqt News, said the channel was quickly gaining popularity among the masses since it was started about two years back. After receiving education from the United Kingdom, I am involved in the challenging profession of journalism for the last three years, she added.
