LAHORE - A detailed report by German laboratory about Tetra Pack milk samples has reached the Lahore High Court (LHC), but on the request of private milk processing companies the court has barred media from publishing the same. The counsel for milk processing companies requested the court that if the contents of the report were picked up by media, it would unnecessarily lead to media trial of the milk companies before determination of actual issue in hand and would adversely affect the image of the companies as well. At this Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah observed, Media is directed not to report on the contents of the report submitted by Eurofins Global Cenral, Hamburg, Germany dated February 22, 2010 till further orders. Office is directed to intimate the media accordingly. The court directed all the parties involved in the case to obtain copies of the said report and file their replies within one month. The petition was filed by Barrister Zafarullah Khan of Watan Party Pakistan against supply of adulterated milk by private milk manufacturing companies. The judge adjourned further hearing till April 28 and directed city district government Lahore, environmental protection department Punjab, livestock & dairy development department, food department, PCSIR and PSQCA to depute their best officer well-versed with milk manufacturing process to attend the court proceedings along with all relevant reports prepared by them. Meanwhile, an amicus curie Barrister Sidra Fatima Sheikh sought permission of court to release professional fee to the German laboratory, however, the judge said the matter would be taken up on next hearing after the report had been read. The judge asked the lady lawyer to place on record the invoice received from the German laboratory.
