LOS ANGELES: Alec Baldwin is reportedly in negotiations with director Cameron Crowe to join his next film.

The 30 Rock star is said to be “locking in his role shortly”, according to Deadline.

Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, and Danny McBride are already on board for Cameron’s as-yet-untitled film, which is rumoured to be a rework of Deep Tiki.

Oscar-nominated actor Bradley is to play a defence contractor, who teams up with an Air Force pilot (Emma) as he organises a weapons satellite launch from Hawaii, with “mystical island forces” and a talking computer also involved.

It is not yet known what roles Rachel, Danny and Alec would be cast in.

The remake, which was first announced in 2008 with Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon as the leads, stalled in development in the last few years.

Alec, who is expecting his second child with second wife Hilaria Thomas, will next be seen in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine alongside Cate Blanchett, Peter Sarsgaard and Sally Hawkins.

The 55-year-old is also attached to lend his voice to Popeye’s nemesis Bluto in a Popeye movie.

The actor, who turned down a villainous role in a Marvel comic book film because of scheduling problems, has said he wants to work around his wife’s pregnancy.

“They wanted me to work a certain time. And because of my wife’s pregnancy, I had to turn down two films this summer that I wanted to do,” he said on The Howard Stern Show.
