Paddy crop standing over an area of over 500 acres of land worth million of rupees in village Jhalar Diwanan was destroyed due to the attack of mysterious pests.

According to affected growers including Rai Shahzad Ahmad, Rai Muhammad Saeed, Fayyaz Ahmad and scores of others, after the recent rains the crop of Super Karnal, Basmati, Super Fine and Kainat paddy had been severely attacked by mysterious pest as a result of which standing crop in more than five hundred acres had been destroyed, inflicting loss of millions of rupees on the growers. They said that they approached the officials of Plant Protection Department but they lent deaf ear to their grievances. They demanded prompt action to save further crop in the area and payment of compensation to the affected growers.

BOOKED: Zafar Zakeer Goraya, Saqib Bashir and five others of Tahli Goraya (Pindi Bhattian) have been booked by the police Under Section 365/511/386/506 PPC on the charge of allegedly attempting to abduct LHC Advocate Manazar Hussain. The accused also tortured him and snatched away Rs95,000 from them at gunpoint.

Meanwhile, the City Police have registered a case against Munir Ahmad Hanjra of Kot Khushhal on the charge of allegedly hurling life threat to former EDO Health Dr Muhammad Aslam. According to police source, accused Munir Ahmad Hanjra submitted bogus applications against the Ex. EDO and when his allegations were proved false after departmental inquiry the accused allegedly hurled threat of dire consequences.
