SANGLA HILL/WAZIRABAD

The Anjuman-e-Teheek-e-Niswan in collaboration with the District Health Department organised anti-dengue awareness seminar to educate the public about preventive measures against dengue. The seminar was chaired by DO Health Dr Naseer Ahmed Kahlon here the other day. DDO Health Abid Raza Bhatti was the chief guest on the occasion while a large number of civil society members and women participated in the seminar.

Addressing the participants, Dr Naseer Ahmed said that the Health Department had been utilising all out resources for dengue-eradication. He said that arrangements had been made for treatment of dengue patients in hospitals. He urged people to adopt precautionary measures against dengue fever.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDO Health stressed the need for social mobilisation for awareness about the disease. He said that eradication of dengue was collective and social responsibility of all and sundry.  “It is our collective duty to take care and prevent ourself and our children. We have to clean our house, streets and towns,” he said.

He urged citizens to avoid accumulating water and to dispose garbage properly. He said unused plastic and tyres should be wrapped and water in containers should be refreshed regularly. He said people should keep mosquito repellents at their homes and urged them to keep their homes and localities clean. In Wazirabad, AC Rao Sohail Akhtar has stressed the need for individual vis-a-vis collective efforts to raise awareness about dengue breeding and its treatment in society.

He was addressing the participants of an anti-dengue awareness-raising seminar and walk organised by the TMA here the other day.

He said that students and teachers could play a pivotal role in the promotion of anti-dengue awareness, its hazards and preventive measures. He said that the government was striving to curb the menace of dengue and Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif was himself visiting door-to-door to eliminate the menace of dengue.

Speaking on the occasion, DDO Health Dr Nasar Ullah Cheema informed about the symptoms of dengue fever and preventive measures. He said that necessary measures should be adopted to improve sanitation and water should not be allowed to stay long at a spot and water for domestic use should not be kept open and spray should be conducted every week in the houses and all localities to kill mosquitoes.
