DUBLIN - The final of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier between Sri Lanka Women and Pakistan Women was abandoned due to torrential rain at the YMCA Cricket Club in Dublin, Ireland on Thursday.

The match was scheduled for Wednesday (31) as Pakistan Women posted 112-5 against Sri Lanka Women before rain prevented further play. The match officials were then prompted to put off the Sri Lanka innings for Thursday (1) to decide the outcome of the final.

But after play could not proceed on the reserve day the final was abandoned as a no result. Both teams will advance to the ICC World Women’s Twenty20 Championship to be held in Bangladesh in 2014.

Sri Lanka after winning the toss elected to bowl and curtailed Pakistan to a decent total. Nain Abidi top scored for Pakistan with a useful 45 from 50 balls inclusive of two boundaries as Bismah Maroof hit a run-a-ball 35 with a boundary to help her side to a respectable total.

Left-arm spinner Chandima Gunaratne and right-arm seamer Chamani Seneviratne picked two wickets each.

BRIEF SCORES: Pakistan Women 112 for 5 wickets (20) (Javeria Khan 11, Nain Abidi 45, Bismah Maroof 35n.o, Chandima Gunaratne 2/7, Chamani Seneviratne 2/25) vs Sri Lanka Women.
