RAWALPINDI : President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Manzar Khurshid Sheikh has strongly rejected the government decision of increasing electricity prices both for commercial customers and domestic users.  He also rejected the raise in petroleum prices and termed that government with clear mandate giving an awful gift to masses on this Eid. He was exchanging these views with the traders and industrialists in a meeting held here on Thursday.

Senior Vice President Pervaiz Ahmed Warriach, Vice President Nadeem Rauf, members Executive Committee and other members of the Chamber were also present on the occasion.

Manzar Khursid said that owing to deteriorating law and order situation and prevailing energy crisis the foreign investment in the country had reduced and also distressed the business activities in the region and recent decisions will hamper the business activities.

He demanded the government to revoke the said decision at earliest and said that government must abide by the assessments of energy conference. “Government should focus on the alternate energy resources like hydro, coal and gas so may the uninterrupted electricity supply would be provided to the masses on cheaper rates,” he suggested.

President RCCI said that industry has been facing immense problems in respect of energy crisis and recent steps would badly harm the local industry.

He said that business community was surprised to hear this hike because government was fully aware of the problems faced by the businessmen community. He further said that business community always cooperated with the government and it must show some positive gestures in this regard.
