LAHORE - Pakistan will host the West Asia Baseball Cup to be played from November 25 in Qasim Bagh, Multan.

This was stated by Pakistan Federation Baseball (PFB) secretary Khawar Shah here on Thursday after his return from Chinese Taipei after attending executive committee meeting of Baseball Federation of Asia. “It is a big honour for us that the Asian body has allocated the prestigious event to us keeping in view Pakistan’s hosting abilities for similar events in the recent years,” he added.  He said the meeting acknowledged Pakistan’s positive contribution for the promotion of baseball in the country. “We are optimistic that holding of the West Asia Cup in Pakistan will give a big boost to our ongoing efforts for the overall development of the game in the country,” he said.

He said as Director West Asia Baseball Federation of Asia, he explained the detailed programme of baseball development in West Asia (in Arab countries) and house unanimously approved it.  “I will be visiting visit UAE in this month and Kuwait next month for the development of baseball in the gulf region,” he added.

He said Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA) is organizing Chinese Taipei International Baseball Tournament and the participating countries would be USA, Cuba, Holland, Chinese Taipei, Italy, Japan, China and Korea. “I requested the house that Pakistan may be included in that international baseball tournament which was approved. It will be a big honour that our team will also play in the top world ranking baseball teams in the event.”
