Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that the government had strengthened the national institutions through promotion of democracy and that there is rule of law in the country.

“Defence of Pakistan is in very strong hands,” he said talking to the party workers at his residence in Sialkot Cantt. The federal minister added that the present government was fully aware of the eternal and external dangers and making hectic efforts to cope with the same. It was committed to weed out terrorism from the country in active cooperation of the masses, as the whole nations stands united against the terrorism, he said.

He narrated that early establishment of durable peace was the top priority of the country. He said that the PML-N was striving to strengthen democracy. He noted that the PML-N has successfully put the country on the highway to success, economic and political stability.

“The government is implementing several revolutionary practical steps to pull the country and the nation out of persisting energy crisis, besides, tackling the internal and external issues. We are promoting a revolutionary policy of ‘trade not aid’ with the other countries. This policy will be helpful in making Pakistan a self-reliant and stable,” he added.

He added that the government was striving to cope with the persisting energy crisis for giving maximum relief to the people. He said that the establishment of atomic power houses would be helpful in reducing the prices of the electricity.

He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was striving to make Pakistan a strong economical power after making it a nuclear power. Local MNA Syed Iftikharul Hassan, MPAs Muhammad Ikram, Manshaullah Butt, Arshad Javaid and PML-N leaders Idrees Ahmed Bajwa, president of PML-N Sialkot, Shujaat Ali Pasha, Mehmoodul Hassan Babar and others were also present.

GOVT URGED TO PROMOTE TOLERANCE: PML-Q Punjab Senior Vice President Raja Muhammad Basharat said that it was the demand of the day that PML-N government should promote politics of reconciliation under the supervision of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain for pulling the country out of the crises and to cope with the eternal and external dangers.

He said that there was a political vacuum and space in the country which lacks capable leadership. He stated this while addressing a meeting here. He said that the PML-N government remains failed to deliver as per the heavy mandate given to it by the All Parties Conference for curbing crises. He said that due to the failure, the nation was now finding out alternative of the present government.

Raja ruled out any possibility of political alliance between PML-N and PML-Q ahead of the local bodies polls in Punjab. He said that there was no chance of holding LB polls by PML-N government.

He said that those flown to other parties after leaving the PML-Q will get nothing more than political disappointment. He narrated that the government has miserable failed to control skyrocketing prices and making any effective policy to give any relief to the masses.

Talking to newsmen at the house of former MPA Ansar Iqbal Baryar at Aadha-Daska, he was of the view that the PML-N government has badly shattered the trust and confidence of the people despite remaining unable to fulfil its political promises.

Earlier, he reviewed the party matters during an important meeting held there and announced the appointment of Ch Maqsud Ahmed as president of PML-Q Sialkot district and other officers.
