The district administrations have announced to set up Sasta bazaars thrice in a week here to provide the people with relief regarding prices of various commodities.

One of such bazaars will be set up in at Goal Chowk where daily use items will be available at cheap rates, said Assistant Commissioner Saifullah Sajid. He said that on the special directions of Punjab government, Sasta bazaar would be set on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the administration have finalised arrangements to provide daily use items to the masses. He said that the TMA would arrange tents for the bazaars and monitor cleanliness while the Agriculture and Livestock Department would contact with traders for provisions of vegetables.  Meanwhile, District and tehsil price committees will monitor and control prices. The District Price Control Committee consists of DCO Jawad Akram, DPO Sadiq Ali Dogar, ADC Ali Anan Qamar, EDO Shahzad Sabir, District Labour Officer Kashif Aziz and District Officer Livestock Muhabbat Khan. In Toba Tek Singh, DCO Dr Farah Masood said that 28 price control magistrates had been deployed in the district to control prices of commodities.  The DCO directed the market assistant director to supervise everyday auctions. She also directed to establish Sasta bazaars thrice a week on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

On the occasion, EDO (Agriculture) Mushtaq Ali informed the meeting that the wholesale shopkeepers in fruit and vegetable markets of the district did not comply with the direction and rules of market committees. Instead of selling in open auction, they sell fruit and vegetables at their own fixed rates, he added. As a result, the citizens were forced to purchase fruit and vegetables on costly rates than the rates in other neighbouring districts of Jhang and Faisalabad, he noted.
