While hearing the debate in print and electronic media, one comes to the conclusion that more or less all political analysts rate government’s performance, including the federal and provincial governments, as weak in many areas. The truth is that the government has not been successful in coping with anything that it promised, unemployment, keeping food prices under control, reducing corruption in government, stabilizing fuel prices, and controlling terrorism.

Rising prices of all staples are among the top three problems facing the country. Unemployment continues to be a major issue and the youth population, in particular, continues to be disappointed with the prevalence of severe unemployment and I have seen many highly qualified youngsters either reduced to committing suicide or turning to crime out of shear frustration. Is there anyone to shake the conscience of our ruling elite to do something concrete for the deprived and denied people of Pakistan?
