UBAURO  - A police team conducted raid at the personal jail of a landlord in Deh Jampur in the limits of Khenjo police station near Daharki and recovered 51 peasants on Sunday.

Being directed by the Sindh High Court, the team, led by SP Ubauro Niaz Ahmed Chandio raided at the lands of Wadero Abdul Malik Mahar in the limits of Khenjo police station, district Ghotki and recovered 51 peasants including 10 men, 11 women and 30 children of different ages confined illegally.

The freed peasants included Meer Zaman, Meeral, Qurban, Deen Muhammad, Muneer Ahmed, Ghulam Haider, Hidayatullah, Naimat, Noor Banu and others, all belonging to Shaikh community.

A peasant Gul Hassan Shaikh had filed a petition in SHC, Sukkur Circuit Bench praying to recover the peasants confined illegally by landlord Abdul Malik Mahar for the last one year.

The police team has been conducting raids to arrest the accused landlord who is absconding. The accused landlord talking to newsmen on phone from hiding contradicted allegations and said he didn’t have any private jail nor the peasants were confined, but they were asked to pay the amount received in advance or work till the amount is recovered.

The police would produce the freed peasants in SHC Sukkur Bench on Monday (today).
