WAZIRABAD - Eleven kilometres long safety bunds on either sides of River Chenab has been repaired and strengthened by laying stones and earth in Khanki Head Works. This was told by XEN Muhammad Rasheed while talking to the media here the other day.

He stated that that all precautionary measures had been taken to face challenges during expected flood and, adding that an emergency Centre had been established at Khanki Head Works. He added that River Chenab had the capacity of 8 to 10 lakh Cusecs of floodwater.

“Moreover an emergency Centre has been established to meet any situation where staff will remain present round the clock”, he added. He said that when flood cross the level of 0.5 million cusecs it over flow and create problems for crops and residential localities but all necessary measures have been taken to face river Chenab over flowing, he added.  On the occasion, Gujranwala DCO Ch Muhammad Amin also visited the flood area of Bella where AC Sohail Akhtar briefed him on the arrangements.
