WAZIRABAD - Awareness seminar on drug addiction was organized by ANWS in collaboration with the ANF Pakistan here the other day.

The seminar was presided over by Shaid Raza Bajwah and attended by as chief guest Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Sohail Akhtar.

Speaking on the occasion, the AC said “The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was being observed. But, we should continue the anti-drug campaign round the year in a bid to create awareness against the use and smuggling of drugs.” He said that Mao like steps needed to save future of the new generation of the country.  The AC said that drug use was harmful for the entire society and there was need to promote healthy activities among the youth.

Addressing the participants, THQ Hospital MS Dr Farrukh Humayon urged to launch a crackdown on drug pushers, saying that “a crackdown on drug pushers was essential if we want to save our new generation from the social evils “.

He said that each and every individual should play due role to eradicate the menace of narcotics.

On the occasion, ANWS General Secretary Muhammad Jameel Cheema said that 10 million addicts wasted Rs1.5 billion per day on the use of drugs. “There must be coordination among the ANF Pakistan and other relevant agencies for eradication of narcotics”, he said.

Brig (r) Raja Rauf Ullah Khan, Engineer Abu Zar Ghaffari, Maj Doctor Habibur Rehman Shahid, Motorway Police Inspector Zafar Iqbal Warriach, Inspector Muhammad Akbar, Iftikhar Ahmad Butt and Imran Rasool Butt spoke on the occasion.
