BAHAWALNAGAR An additional district and sessions judge has acquitted the former secretary general of the District Bar Association in the 36kg charas case. Zafar Bhotta was arrested red-handed and the charas was recovered from his car. On November 2, 2010, the city police had arrested Zafar Iqbal near Sutlej Park, Bahawalnagar and recovered the huge quantity of prohibited intoxicating substance hidden in the vacuums of his car. The city police registered a case against the advocate and challaned the accused after completion of preliminary investigation. However, a few months ago, the charas recovered from the advocate was declared soap packets. Taking action of the transformation charas into soaps, the Bahawalanagar district police officer ordered that the Maal Khana in-charge of Bahawalnagar police be arrested along with his subordinate assistant sub-inspector for replacing charas into soap packets. However AD&SJ Mohammad Tariq has announced the judgment in favour of the advocate and acquitted him of the charge.
