LAHORE Newly-elected Vice President Supreme Court Bar Association Imrana Perveen Baloch has said that the government must act upon the Supreme Court decisions in letter and spirit. Addressing a press conference at the Lahore High Court Bar premises here on Tuesday, Imrana said her efforts in the office would be for the protection of the independent judiciary and taking care of the rights of the community. Imrana, who has been elected to the office on the anti-government platform, Professional Group, said lawyers rendered unprecedented sacrifices for the independent judiciary and the present judiciary was giving independent decisions and the government must implement the same in letter and spirit. She also performed as executive member of the SCBA in the last tenure. She said the government had to act upon the judicial verdicts as they had to a go a long way to eliminate problems confronting the nation today. She said the Supreme Court must be paid due respect by all. Imrana also vowed to ensure availability of inexpensive and speedy justice to the people. In the same breath she said, her support is for the President of the Bar as long as he talks of rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution and his decisions based on political lines would not be acceptable to her. It may be mentioned here that three of the four vice presidents of the SCBA elected in the recent elections relate to the Opposite group of PPP-supported president Yasin Azad. Meanwhile, Punjab Prosecutor General Ashtar Ausaf has taken serious notice of non-inclusion of 7-ATA in police challan against the culprits of heinous crime of acid throwing on a married woman, Hajran Bibi by her former fiance after tress passing her house in Chak No.266 GB Police Station Rajhana, district Toba Tek Singh.
