NEW YORK - Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce, just 72 days after marrying basketball player Kris Humphries in a lavish wedding that was billed as a fairytale. Kardashian, 31, star of the TV show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court citing irreconcilable differences. Monday afternoon, Kim released a statement confirming the news. It reads: After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things dont work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best. Kris Humphries had no idea Kim wanted to end their marriage, confessing her decision has left him devastated. He was completely unaware of his wifes plans and hes determined to fix their marital problems. In his own statement issued on Monday, he says, Im committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce... Im willing to do whatever it takes to make it work. According to TMZ, the celebrity website, Kim will not seek annulment, and she has hired celeb attorney Laura Wasser - who also represented Britney Spears, Maria Shriver, Angelina Jolie, and Ryan Reynolds.
