GUJRANWALA-Hundreds of important files of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have been burnt to ashes as FBR Office caught fire due to short-circuit here on Tuesday.

The regional FBR Office suddenly caught fire resultantly all the tax record of Gujranwala and Hafizabad districts including important files were burnt to ashes. Receiving the information, the chief commissioner of regional tax directorate and other officers reached the spot. The rescue workers overcome the fire after three hours. It was told that the fire was erupted due to short-circuit while the chief commissioner said that an inquiry would be held and responsible persons would be punished.

Meanwhile, FIA teams have held two human traffickers in raids. Accused Ghulam Mustafa and Qadeer were involved in sending people abroad through bogus documents and many cases were registered against them for extorting money from the citizens. Accused Qadeer was also involved in preparing forged Pakistani passports.

ROBBERIES, THEFTS: Dacoits and thieves took away gold ornaments, cash, vehicles and other valuables in various hits here on Tuesday. In Ahmed Nagar police limits, robbers snatched Rs25,000 and two cellphones from Sanaullah; in Ladhewala Warriach armed men intercepted Alamgir and Rauf and deprived them of motorcycle, Rs9,000 and cellphones; in Sohdra, bandits looted Rs21,000 and two cellphones from Iqbal; and at Emanabad dacoits took away Rs25,000 and cellphone from Nadir.

In Saddr Police limits, armed men looted Rs27,000 and two cellphones from Rehmatullah; in Ghakkar Mandi, Abid was deprived of Rs17,000 and cellphone; in Wahndo, robbers looted Rs35,000 and two cellphones from Ishtiaq, applied for motorcycles of Nasir, Ahmed Raza, Ehsanullah and Mannan were stolen while unknown thieves swept the houses of Mazhar, Riaz, Sadaqat and Naseer.
