MULTAN-Former president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Makhdoom Javed Hashmi suggested Imran Khan should not celebrate Youm-e-Tashakur (thanksgiving day) as it is Youm-e-Tazheek (insult day) for him.

Addressing a news conference here at his residence, the veteran politician lashed out at Imran Khan and said that he proved that he is not a politician. “The way he behaved exhibited as if the Panama leaks issue had ended. Even if the commission is constituted, the decision will not come within a day,” he maintained.

Hashmi alleged that Imran Khan’s politics is against CPEC project. He said that Imran Khan put the democratic system at stake through his ill-conceived acts. He claimed that core committee of the PTI opposed Imran Khan’s decision but he did not listen to anyone. “He (Khan) considers himself the wisest of all,” he added. He said that Imran Khan has a self-deception that he is the spokesperson of the entire nation. “He is wrong. The Quaid-e-Azam was the only interpreter of the Muslims,” he added.

He said that when the Punjab Government successfully blocked people coming from KPK, Imran Khan came to know that he would fail to gather people. “This situation led him to announcing a youm-e-tashakur since he knows he could not gather people anymore,” he added. He said that he wants to tell Imran Khan that it is politics and not cricket. “We don’t need players here. We need political workers,” he asserted. Hashmi said that Imran Khan could not impress the people except a few youth by doing push ups.

Hashmi asked the nation to celebrate youm-e-tashakur as national institutions prevented horrible destruction. “The Supreme Court of Pakistan and Pakistan Army prevented any controversy. The army has proved that it is neutral,” he pointed out. He said that the government would not have dissolved, had a third power removed container at Burhan interchange.

He drew the attention of the nation towards the speeches of Chief Minister KPK, saying the speeches delivered by Khattak sahib during the last two days were sufficient to forget about Wali Khan and Ghaffar Khan. “He kept talking about separation,” he pointed out.

Hashmi said that although the Supreme Court has given a clear verdict on Panama leaks, “still we lacked clear laws to seek answer.” “The proposed commission will be constituted but it will not give any decision overnight,” he asserted. He said that he did not consider the punishment given to Yousuf Raza Gilani on contempt of court appropriate. He said that Nawaz Sharif would have to give his answer on Panama leaks, adding that the PML-N has heavy responsibilities to discharge and Panama and Dawn leaks are at the top of the list.
