KAMALIA-A protest was held against the absence of doctors and staff as well as the shortage of medicines at City Hospital that was built near Kachi Basti Kamalia to provide healthcare for the slum dwellers.

Talking to this scribe, the people said that the City Hospital had lost its importance and efficiency due to the indifference of the staff and their continued absence from duty. They said that the hospital staff only get to the hospital for attendance in the morning, then they could not be found there.

“The government had provided a latest ultrasound machine, but the staff keeps it shut down and not facilitates the patients, they saiad. The patients have to turn to private clinics and pay huge fees to have the ultrasound tests,” they said.

Social circles have strongly protested and demanded that authorities concerned should take action the absentees and the staff’s misbehavior with the patients.

Police bust bike-lifter gang: The police claimed to have busted a two member gang of motorbike-lifters and recovered several motorcycles from their possession. The recovered bikes were later handed over the owners at a ceremony held here the other day.

According to police, the accused identified as Bilal and Naveed were wanted in various cases of bike-lifting. Further investigation is underway and recovery of more motorcycles is expected.

On the other hand, the police arrested Kashif from Mohallah Mohib Ali Shah for violating Amplifier Act and registered a case against him.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Mushtaq submitted an application to the police, alleging that Ali Akhtar purchased a car, motorcycle and cellphone from him and gave him a cheque amounting Rs0.3 million which was dishonoured by the bank concerned on the due date. The police have registered a case against the accused and started investigation.
