LAHORE - Three people were killed in road accidents in different parts of the provincial metropolis yesterday, police and rescue workers said.

A 45-year-old man died when a speedy vehicle smashed into his car near under-pass on the Canal road in Garden Town police precincts.

The deceased was identified by police as Ghulam Haider, a resident of Defense. According to police, the driver of the other vehicle fled instantly. The police were investigating the accident.

In another incident, a young man died while two others wounded seriously when a tractor-trolley bumped into their motorcycle in Kahna. Police said that three motorcyclists were going towards Kahna bust stop when a tractor-trolley smashed into their two-wheeler near Gajju Matta.

As a result, one of them died on the spot while his two friends were rushed to a hospital with serious injuries. The deceased was later identified as 17-year-old Shamoon. The police impounded the tractor-trolley and were investigating.

Meanwhile, a 38-year-old factory worker died when a recklessly-driven vehicle hit him from rear side near Begum Kot, Shahdara.

The victim was identified as Ali Sher, a resident of Gilgit. Ali was working at a tractor-manufacturing factory located in Shahdara. The deceased was trying to cross the road when a mini-truck hit him. The drive along with the truck fled instantly. The police were investigating.
