HAFIZABAD-The dwellers of Katchi Abadi Mohallah Islampura Hafizabad have taken out a rally to protest against the authorities concerned for not awarding them proprietary rights since long.

Led by Syed Mohsin Shah, they said that they were not provided proprietary rights for the past fifty years. Since then they went from pillar to post to get their rights but the authorities of Auqaf department lent deaf ear to their genuine demands, they maintained.

They further said that they were promised to award them the rights but recently the department has issued ejectment notices which is arbitrary and uncalled for. They have called upon State Minister Saira Afzal Tarar and Chief Minister of the Punjab to come to their rescue and order for the withdrawal of notices and ensure award of proprietary rights without further delay to avoid them mental agony.

CASES REFERRED TO COURT: Cases of 14 medical stores who were found selling out-dated and sub-standard medicines have been referred to the Drug Court Gujranwala for legal action against them under the Quality Control Act, this was disclosed in the meeting of the District Quality Control Board Hafizabad by the Chief Executive Officer Health Dr. Hamid Rafique.

On the occasion, DC Allah Ditta Warraich has called upon the health officials and drug inspectors to take stern action against those who are selling fake, prohibited and intoxicant medicines at their medical stores as well as to take strict action against the quacks without any discrimination. The DC expressed his astonishment over the fact that some illiterate persons are running their stores after hiring the services of qualified persons which is unjustified and uncalled for. He urged the Drug Inspector to take prompt action against the violators of Drug Act so that they would be prevented from playing with the lives of poor and hapless patients.
