ISLAMABAD - Top seed Abid of ZTBL clinched the Syed Tajamul Abbas Memorial National Tennis Championships singles title by beating Ahmed Ch in straight sets at Senator Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Garden Avenue on Saturday.

Raja Shahid defeated Kashan-ul-Haq in boy's U-18 singles final while Muzammil shocked Aman Attique in the U-14 boys final. In the first set Abid build up the 4-0 lead against rival Ahmed Ch by hitting powerful forehand and backhand drives and won the first set  6-1.

Abid also maintained the momentum in second set and didn't allow Ahmed o settle down with his powerful service, backhand and forehand drives. Abid build up the lead of 5-0 due to unforced errors by Ahmed Ch and won the second set 6-1 with the help of 2 aces.  Abid was awarded cash prize of Rs 20,000 along with a shield while Ahmed Ch got Rs 12,000.

The match was officiated by Arif Qureshi while ITF White Badge Umpire whereas Shahzad Akhtar Alvi was the chief tournament referee.

A total number of 100 players from all over the country participated in the championship contested in four different events  The tournament was organized in the memory of late Syed Tajamul Abbas who was assassinated on the Sargodha Office Club Tennis Court and was the elder brother of Senator Syed Dilawar Abbas. 

Senator Syed Dilawar Abbas Patron PTF announced that this tournament would be organized at a much higher level next year. A total amount of Rs150,000  was distributed as prize money and daily allowances among the participants.

Jesus Zenen Buergo Concepcion Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba grace the occasion as chief guest and distributed the prizes among the players.
