Earlier, the Cholistan Development Authority directed the staff to conduct a survey of the shops. The MD made a detailed report on the matter and sent it to the commissioner for recovery of rent.

Bahawalpur Division Commissioner Muhammad Khan Khichi appreciated the step taken by the MD and forwarded the report to the Punjab Secretary Revenue for taking a stern action against the mafia immediately. The MD said that rent of these shops is in millions of rupees but the land mafia has not paid a single penny to the government. He said that as soon as approval for collecting rent of these shops was received from the competent authority, the CDA would start collecting rent.
