LAHORE – A new wave of 12 to 14 hours loadshedding revisited the City on Saturday after relief of a week, turning the people’s life into hell in humid weather.

The Energy Management Cell claimed Friday’s shortfall was about 4,000MW but according to sources the actual position was different, and the gap between demand and supply was over 5,000MW at the national grid.

The sources said the supply was around 12,000MW against the countrywide demand of over 17,000MW. Gas supply to Gencos and some IPPs had been restrained by the SNGPL while the hydel generation had also decreased to about 30 per cent, they added.

Lesco feeders are conducting 12 hours loadshedding with persisting cuts of two to three hours in some areas; while in rural areas, the outages are crossing 14 hours. The sources said the other distribution companies were also conducting shutdown of same duration.
