FEROZWALA - Additional District Collector Kiran Khursheed disclosed on Saturday that 1,533 acre of state land worth Rs1,297 million had been retrieved from the illegal possession of some political influential persons.

Talking to the media, the ADC claimed that 967 acres of state land had been leased out for five years and Rs531 million earned from the deal was deposited in the exchequer. She said that the TMA had been making all-out efforts to generate more revenue to carry out mega projects and lift living standard of the public. The ADC pointed out that all ACs of five tehsils of district had been directed to intensify recovery of outstanding dues from defaulters without any fear and favour. The ADC added that in 2011-2012, Rs953 were recovered from defaulters, which was Rs155 million more than against the last year revenue.

AC leads anti-dengue walk :  Scores of students from different schools and collages flanked by citizens and TMA staffers took out a walk to raise awareness about treatment and prevention from dengue here in Sharaqpur on Saturday.

Participants of the walk, led by Assistant Commission Lubna Nazir, were carrying banners and placards and marched through various city roads. Speaking on the occasion, the AC said that the TMA had taken all-out measures to combat dengue.

Various teams had been formed to visit urban and rural areas of the tehsil and raise awareness among people about dengue virus. The participants also distributed pamphlets among the motorists and pedestrians. Not a single case dengue virus has been reported in any part of the Tehsil so far, the AC claimed.
