MULTAN :Like Islamabad and other parts of the country, tension between the workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and police is growing as they just escaped a clash the other day. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers kept gathering at Nawan Shehr Chowk amid tight security on Monday.

It may not be out of place to mention here that the PTI workers are staging demonstrations for the last several days at Chowk Nawan Shehr. Dozens of protesters assemble at the chowk daily in the evening and stage sit-in till late in the night.

Meanwhile, dozens of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers gathered at the chowk till filing of this report. Holding placards and banners inscribed with their demands regarding resignation of Mian Nawaz Sharif, the protesters carried out non-stop sloganeering against the government and in favour of Imran Khan.

The speakers condemned police action against PTI workers in Islamabad and demanded Army to intervene forthwith. They warned that all those involved in torture on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf  workers would be held accountable very soon.

Police made strict security arrangements on this occasion. All roads leading to Nawan Shehr Chowk were blocked to traffic as barricades were placed and no vehicle was permitted entry. Cops wearing full gear looked all set to start baton charge.

However, the situation was calm till filing of this report.
