KARACHI (APP) - Sindh will have, for the first time, its biggest historic and cultural museum in Mitharam hostel. This was stated by Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism, Sassui Palejo, at an award distribution function held at Chief Minister House. Sassui Palejo said that for the first time a 17-volume encyclopedia of history of Sindh will be published in Sindhi in first phase, in Urdu in second phase and in English in the third phase. She referred to the distribution of Shah Latif Excellence, Josh Malihabadi and Shaikh Ayaz Awards and said the nomination of recepients were made by a high powered and independent committee without any pressure and recommendation. Neither recommendation from any Minister or even the department itself was made nor any influence brought on the committee. The awards have been instituted in the names of very tall figures and recipients of these awards will feel pride. The Minister said that poets, writers, intellectuals are playing a very significant role in providing guidance to the society and for its betterment. She said that Sindhi poets and writers always spoke truth even during the reigns of Yaha, Zia and Musharraf. She said that poetry of Shah Latif Bhitai is the symbol of our civilisation and has remained a source of inspiration for us. Similarly, Sheikh Ayaz and Josh Malihabads role had remained very significant. The Minister pointed out that for the first time research committee are being set up in Sindh while Shaheed Benazir Bhutto chairs established in universities in Sindh. She said that for the first time in the history of Pakistan, an endowment fund is being instituted for poets, writers, artists and intellectuals. She said that Kenjhar is being developed as a recreational resort of international standard while DG for Gorakh Hill project appointed. MQM organises workshop for women Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Women Wing organized a workshop for women at Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall, Azizabad here. Member MQM Rabita Committee, Kanwer Khalid Younis, MNA, and Incharge MQM Women Wing, Kishwer Zehra as well as women wing members attended the event in large number, said a statement issued by MQM here on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, MQM leader, Kanwer Khalid Younis said that his party wants to provide opportunities to women to enable them asses their skills in every walk of life. MQM Chief Altaf Hussain is struggling peacefully against the feudal system in the country, which, the MQM leader termed as major hurdle for the party in attaining its goal. Addressing the participants of workshop, MNA Kishwer Zehra said that the MQM Chief has created awareness among women folks. The participants also offered fateha for the victims of party men lost their lives in allegedly target killing incidents in the city during last seven months.
