ISLAMABAD - The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration will ensure the availability of food items at the control rate and no one will be allowed to hoarding and profiteering during Ramazan, Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed said it while talking to a delegation of trader community that called on him in his office here on Sunday. Amer Ali Ahmed said that ICT Administration had launched a vigorous anti-profiteering drive in Islamabad before the commencement of Ramazan to curb the hoarding and profiteering tendency before Ramazan and the Magistrates had started price checking drive in their respective areas on daily basis and on the spot action had been initiated against the profiteers. He also appealed the trader community to extend full support to the ICT Administration in maintaining the stability in the prices of food items especially fruit and vegetables and providing relief to the consumers and avoiding the tendency of profiteering during Ramazan. The Deputy Commissioner said that rate of fruit and vegetables was being issued by ICTA on daily basis and magistrates would ensure that the shopkeepers and vendors implemented the rates. Moreover, the ICTA will set up 36 fair price shops in urban and rural areas where food items will be available to the consumers at lower and cheaper rates than open market rates. He further informed that a meeting of District Price Control Committee was also being called shortly to ensure the availability of food items at the control rate in open market. The trader community assured the ICT Administration to fully adhere to price control mechanism evolved in the meeting of Price Control Committee. 39 posts approved for mounted police As many as 39 posts have been approved for Mounted Police Unit of Islamabad Capital Territory Police for protection of visiting dignitaries, diplomats and VVIPs, the police sources said. These 39 posts include one Inspector, two ASIs, six Head Constables, six Drivers, 24 Constables. The sources said that induction would be started soon in this unit as Islamabad Development Working Party has given the formal approval of it. He said that maintenance and renovation of police stations in Islamabad would be started soon while dispensary, mess and canteen would start functioning at Police Line in near future.
